Explore Vegetables

After listening to the story of Oliver's Vegetables perhaps you could explore vegetables and how they grow.

Using large tubs or washing up bowls, hide some vegetables in some compost. Give children tools such as spades or kitchen utensils such as spoons and encourage children to discover the vegetables that have grown. They can explore the compost then use the water bowls to clean the vegetables. This covers a range of skill for your child to develop including investigative skills, motor skills and organisation.

Play Cooking

Add some pretend food or even real vegetables to a big bowl or pan with some water and add some different utensils to stir, mix, pour the ingredients to make soup.

Top tip: You could add food colouring to the water to make it look even more inviting...

The Vegetable Song

A brilliant song to have a sing and dance around to, all about different vegetables and chopping and preparing them!
