Week 2

Week Two

We hope you enjoyed last weeks activities.  This week we have had a think of a few sensory activities to try with your child.

We are still thinking of what's outside, sadly the weather has changed and it’s been a bit miserable but it’s still good to get outside of you can.

The story for this week is ‘we’re going on a bear hunt ‘

I know lots of people have been putting bears in their windows for children to spot as they walk around so maybe you could have a look for some where you live and don’t forget to put one in your window for others to find on their bear hunt.

Here are a few activities you might like to try this week too.

  1. Find some empty containers that you can put different things in from the story for example, mud, water, grass and some fun things maybe beans, shaving foam and cornflakes and let your child walk through them in bare feet.

  1.  Fill a zip lock bag with some water (or it works even better with cheap clear hair gel) and put some flowers or other things you find outside and seal the bag.  Make sure you squeeze all the air out of the bag and seal it tight.  Watch the flowers move around the bag as you squeeze and squash it.

  2. Leaf threading.  This is a lot of fun and doesn’t cost anything.  Go for a walk and collect lots of leaves in different shapes and sizes.  Using a twig as a needle and attach some string to it.  Then sew your leaves together to create a long chain, you could hang this up as a decoration or even make a necklace.

  3. Find a plastic container and fill it with water, add some flowers, leaves, seeds, twigs that you find outside and then pop it in the freezer. When it is frozen give it to your child to handle and watch as the ice melts the flowers appear.
