Priory Woods School & Arts College A Special Place to Learn

Training

We are thrilled to be working with Bamboozle Theatre Company to provide CPD for anyone working within SEND and mainstream schools.
We have been working with Bamboozle for many years and have seen first hand the positive impact on both learners and staff.
This training provides practical techniques to use in the classroom with SEND learners and is backed up by extensive research.

SEND Training programme

for Creative Teaching and Learning

A three-year project to support teaching and learning across SEND schools.

This is a new exciting programme where Bamboozle is teaming up with Priory Woods School over the next three years to provide creative training courses for teachers, support staff, teaching assistants and SENCOS who work in schools with SEND pupils in the North East.

The project is funded by Arts Council England and is available to schools in boroughs of: The Tees Valley [Hartlepool, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees], County Durham, Sunderland, South Tyneside, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

  • The programme will run across three CLUSTERS of schools in ENGLAND.
  • Each cluster of schools can access resources, expertise and investment through working as a group
  • This CLUSTER is based in Middlesbrough at Priory Woods School, the others in Mansfield and Luton; each of which has the potential to create a larger network of those in SEND education nationally.

What the programme will provide:

  • 4 training courses for school staff each year – see below for 2023 courses
  • training for freelance practitioners who work with or want to work with SEND pupils in schools 2023/24
  • Bamboozle led creative projects in schools in 2024/25 and 2025/26

All projects are heavily subsidised so that they are more affordable for stretched school budgets.  The courses in 2023/24 are provided at the reduced fee of £47.00 per person per day [reduced from £167 per day].

Bamboozle Theatre Company.

Bamboozle uses theatre strategies to provide for learning disabled children. Disabled children are often not listened to, but they do have things to say. Bamboozle puts children at the centre of activities so that they have time and space to find their own voice.

Everything Bamboozle has been doing for 30 years – theatre shows, family residencies and schools’ programmes - offers young people the time that they need to think, gives value to their views and respects who they are.
