Priory Woods School & Arts College A Special Place to Learn

Sonya's Class

Autumn 1

Sonya’s Class have loved getting to know each other at the start of September and new friendships are blossoming, as well as relationships between staff and pupils. We’ve enjoyed our topic, ‘Me and My School,’ and have had the opportunity to get to know our school friends, read stories and learned about Victorians and schools in the past. We’ve shared the story, ‘There’s a Snake in my School,’ and taken part in ‘The BFG,’ drama experience, as well as re-enacted the sensory story, ‘Stop Elephant Stop.’ We’ve enjoyed our therapy sessions in the hydrotherapy pool and rebound therapy on the trampoline, as well as our weekly TAC PAC and Jabadao sessions. We’ve enjoyed our physio and postural care sessions, including using our splints, gaiters and standing frames. Our communication skills are increasing daily, as we share our choices and personalities with staff, using switches, big macks and communication boards. We’ve enjoyed opportunities to get out and about on the school bus and visit local garden centres to explore autumn displays and particularly enjoyed a whole class trip to Preston Park, exploring the Victorian Street and a wonderful floral art display. It was a great morning. Which both staff and pupils enjoyed. We particularly enjoyed exploring an immersive drama experience within school, linked to the Victorians. We learned so much and had so much fun.
